“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
As a scientific researcher that investigates communication and information phenomena from a humanistic behavioral approach, I am curious about how humans communicate through social media platforms. The broad aim of my research and teaching is to provide additional knowledge and insights into the communication roles and strategies of social media users and their presentation of content to better understand how these influence personal choices and actions. Research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at prestigious conferences at national and international levels. Research has been funded at over $1 million dollars from local, state, and federal sources. Findings inform teaching to kindle students’ minds to probe their understanding of the world.
